For safer & more connected communities.
From safe transport to and from school, to off-road recreation – our trails power our community.
Auckland Council is now writing its next 10 year plan.
There are currently no regional plans to fund paths and trails in Franklin.
The Franklin Local Board are proposing;
A targeted local rate, guaranteed for local projects.
The proposed targeted rate will ensure the funds will be used for paths and trails in our area.
$1 a week, $52 a year, for 10 years.
By Franklin, for Franklin.
We need your help to achieve this...
We need submissions on the targeted rate proposal to help the local board make their decision.
Submissions must be made between
28 Feb - 28 Mar
Why do I need to submit?
The Franklin Local Board has developed a proposal for 37 priority paths, trails and crossings across the Franklin area. For paths and trails by location see here. This proposal can only be achieved by a targeted rate. To get the targeted rate adopted, they need submissions in support from our community.
We only have 2 options.
Option 1
We need your support
Targeted Rate
Adopted.
10 year funding commitment
for local paths and trails.
Next steps.
A dedicated Franklin Trails Program Manager will work with Franklin Local Board, Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and community groups to refine and deliver nominated trails.
Local delivery which leads to local savings means more local paths and trails.
The outcome.
New paths and trails making our communities safer and more connected.
Option 2
Current situation
No Targeted Rate,
No Council funding.
There is likely to be no Auckland Council or Auckland Transport funding in the next 10 year plan. Local paths and trails that have been identified by communities across Franklin will need to be self-funded.
This proposal is part of Auckland Council’s Long Term Plan (10 year budget). Find out more about this proposal, and others at akhaveyoursay.nz/ourplan
