Paths and Trails:
The proposed targeted rate would expand the Pukekohe-Paerata Paths Delivery Plan to fund additional connections from Pukekohe’s growth areas to the town centre, community facilities and transport hubs through the existing road and open space network. Sections of identified ‘priority routes’ have been identified for development (refer map), which would significantly enhance and extend the existing Pukekohe path development programme and create a larger and more integrated walking and cycling network within Pukekohe and surrounding townships.

Safe Crossings:
Improving pedestrian and cyclists’ safety is an important objective and a programme of crossing improvements is proposed to be delivered. Sites based on a combination of criteria including user demand, crash data, vicinity to schools and town centres, road speed, the volume of cars, traffic conditions and community requests will be priositiesed for development. Improving walking and cycling safety and access at Pukekohe High School and Pukekohe Intermediate School are key goals. Additional safety features will include improved sigange, surface treatments, road markings and lighting. These will work to increase the visibility of pedestrians and cyclists and create a safe environment for all road users.
