About the Project
This project delivered a new pedestrian crossing facility on Reynolds Road, improving safety and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, mobility users, and others moving through the area. The crossing was developed in response to community concerns about unsafe crossing behaviour, particularly during winter and on busy sports days at Colin Lawrie Fields.
What’s Been Delivered
- A new, formal pedestrian crossing on Reynolds Road
- Safer access for people walking, cycling, and using mobility devices
- Improved visibility and safer crossing movements near Colin Lawrie Fields
- A more reliable and accessible connection for everyday use
Project Timeline
- The Franklin Local Board endorsed the project to proceed to construction.
- Nearby residents were notified of the project details prior to works beginning.
- Construction took place in early 2026 and was completed on 19 March 2026.
Why It Matters
- Our main aim is to provide a safe and accessible crossing facility for pedestrians on this road.
- Crossings across Reynolds Road are high during winter, particularly when rugby games or trainings are on at Colin Lawrie Fields.
- No crossing facility in this area means that pedestrians are crossing unsafely and increases the risk of an accident.
