Update – August 2026
Public consultation is now underway on proposed improvements to Station Road and Carlton Road in Pukekohe. The proposal includes a new footpath connection along Station Road and intersection improvements at Station Road/Carlton Road, including a new signalised pedestrian crossing and upgraded crossing facilities to improve access to and from the Pukekohe Train Station.
Feedback is open until 4 September 2026. Have your say: https://haveyoursay.at.govt.nz/station-road-pukekohe
Station Rd and Carlton Rd Crossing
We are investigating the installation of two crossing facilities on Station Road and Carlton Road. Both roads experience high crossings without a safe crossing facility. Auckland Transport are in the process of investigating the best treatment type and location for the two crossing facilities.
What’s Changing
- We are proposing plans to install two new pedestrian crossing facilities on Station Road and Carlton Road. These locations experience high pedestrian movement, especially for people accessing the Pukekohe Train Station, but currently have no safe crossing points.
Timeline
- In December 2025, the Franklin Local Board endorsed a signalised crossing option for the project.
- Public consultation on the proposed improvements is now underway and closes on 4 September 2026.
- Feedback will be reviewed and incorporated into the final design where appropriate.
- Construction is currently expected to begin following completion of consultation, design, and approvals.
Why it Matters
- New crossing facilities will allow pedestrians to cross safely to and from the train station and reduces the risk of an accident.
- No crossing facilities in this area may discourage the use of public transport.
