Woodhouse Road and Patumahoe Road Crossings

Project Update – September 2026

The Franklin Local Board has approved the Woodhouse Road and Patumahoe Road crossing and parking improvements as part of the Franklin Paths Programme.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the consultation process and provided feedback. Community feedback played an important role in shaping the final design.

Following consultation and engagement with residents, businesses, stakeholders and the Franklin Local Board, the project has now received approval to progress towards construction.

What’s Changing

• A new at-grade (non-raised) pedestrian crossing on Woodhouse Road.
• A new at-grade (non-raised) pedestrian crossing on Patumahoe Road near the Patumahoe War Memorial Domain.
• Formalised parking arrangements along Patumahoe Road.
• Footpath improvements on Woodhouse Road and Patumahoe Road.
• Improved pedestrian safety, accessibility, and connectivity within Patumahoe Village.

How Community Feedback Shaped the Final Design

The Woodhouse Road crossing will proceed as originally consulted on. Following consultation feedback, the proposed Patumahoe Road crossing has been relocated further east to respond to concerns regarding parking loss and traffic movements within the village centre. The parking layout has also been reviewed and updated as part of the final approved design.

Timeline

• Public consultation completed in March 2026.
• Final design developed following community feedback and Local Board direction.
• Franklin Local Board approved the project in August 2026.
• Construction is currently planned to begin in Spring/Summer 2026, subject to final planning and approvals.
• Further updates will be provided closer to construction.
