Path

Location:

Sandspit Reserve Coastal Path

Project update – As of December 2025, the resource consent application for the Waiuku Sandspit project has been formally lodged. The project is now progressing through both the resource consent process and the procurement phase, where we are working to identify and engage a main contractor to deliver the construction works.

Subject to final approvals for resource consent and successful procurement, construction is expected to begin around August 2026. The build is anticipated to take approximately 6–7 months.

Further updates will be shared here as the project moves toward construction. Building plans will be uploaded below. Further information will be uploaded here as they become available.

About the project

We are proposing a 916 metre pathway (including 788 metres of boardwalk) that will connect Sandspit Reserve and Riverside Drive Recreation Reserve. This track will complete the missing footpath link between the two reserves.
